Awesomely mean animal, but great photography. When we were at Addo these beasts were four feet from where we were sitting on the veranda…too close for my comfort.

Thanks Pam. Indeed they are so unpredictable. This one seemed calm enough but gave an emphatic snort before turning away as we inched past him.
Reminds me of a Robert Bateman painting.
